Privacy Policy
Lonestar Preplanning LLC d/b/a Lonestar Preplanning & Life
1. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through lonestarpreplanning.com and to information you provide through website-related inquiries and pre-application communications with Lonestar. It includes information submitted through website contact forms, event or RSVP forms, the “I’ve Already Planned” coverage review, and related communications by telephone, email, or other direct communication.
Information collected later in connection with an insurance application, policy, or insurance transaction may also be subject to applicable insurance privacy laws, the Lonestar Insurance Privacy Notice, and the privacy practices of the issuing insurance carrier.
Our website is primarily informational and educational. It does not accept insurance premium payments or other financial transactions, issue insurance quotes, bind insurance coverage, approve applications, or make underwriting decisions. If you later choose to apply for insurance, the insurance carrier will collect the information it requires through its own application and underwriting process.
2. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you choose to interact with Lonestar. You may provide:
- Your name, email address, telephone number, and other contact information you choose to provide.
- Your age, when you choose to provide it.
- Information contained in an inquiry, RSVP, contact form, or other message you send to us.
- General information about your insurance or preplanning interests and concerns.
- Information about insurance coverage or workplace coverage you tell us you already have.
- Amounts you choose to enter concerning current planning needs or funds you have set aside for loved ones.
- Income-replacement amounts and time periods you choose to enter.
- Planning categories you select, such as funeral or cremation costs, final medical expenses, debts, mortgage, income replacement, education, or estate and legacy needs.
- Other information you voluntarily choose to provide.
Please do not submit Social Security numbers, bank-account information, credit-card numbers, passwords, detailed medical records, or other sensitive information that we have not specifically requested.
3. Interactive Planning Tools
Our website may offer optional planning tools, including the “I’ve Already Planned” coverage review, designed to help you compare needs you identify with insurance coverage and other resources you tell us you already have.
The financial figures requested in this review are collected by Lonestar for planning and review purposes and are separate from any information an insurance carrier may later request through its application or underwriting process. Using the coverage review does not constitute an application for insurance.
You may complete the review and see the estimated result without sending the information to Lonestar. Nothing is submitted to us merely because you use the calculator. If you choose “Send it to us,” you are voluntarily providing the information you entered so that Lonestar may review your planning, discuss your results with you, and, where appropriate, make recommendations based on the information you provided.
A submitted coverage review may include:
- The purposes for which you originally purchased life insurance.
- The needs you currently identify and the estimated amounts you assign to those needs.
- Insurance coverage, workplace coverage, or other resources you report having.
- Income-replacement figures you enter.
- Calculated totals and the estimated remaining gap.
- Revisions you made to the estimated gap during the review.
- Your name, email address, telephone number, optional age, and any optional comments you provide.
The coverage review is an educational planning tool. Its calculations are based solely on the information you enter. The results are estimates and are not an insurance quote, an insurance application, an underwriting decision, an offer or guarantee of coverage, or a substitute for an individualized insurance review.
Submitting a coverage review does not automatically provide the information to an insurance carrier. If you later decide to pursue coverage, the carrier will request the information necessary for its own application and underwriting process.
4. How We Use Information
We use information you provide for purposes related to the reason you contacted us, including to:
- Respond to questions, requests, inquiries, and event registrations.
- Review a coverage-review submission and contact you about the results you asked us to review.
- Evaluate the planning needs you identify and compare them with the coverage and resources you report having.
- Discuss insurance and preplanning options with you and make recommendations where appropriate.
- Prepare for an appointment or consultation you request.
- Provide information about products or services you ask about.
- Assist with an insurance application if you later ask us to do so.
- Maintain appropriate business, licensing, compliance, and regulatory records.
- Help protect against fraud, spam, abuse, unauthorized activity, or security threats.
- Operate, maintain, and improve the functionality and security of our website.
- Comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
We do not use information submitted through the coverage review to make an automated underwriting decision.
5. Nonpublic Personal Financial Information
Because Lonestar provides insurance-related services, some information you provide may constitute nonpublic personal financial information under applicable federal and Texas insurance privacy law. This may include information you provide while seeking insurance-related planning, evaluation, or advice, even if you do not ultimately apply for or purchase an insurance product.
We do not disclose nonpublic personal financial information about our customers or former customers to nonaffiliated third parties except as permitted by law. We do not sell lists of customers, prospects, website visitors, or coverage-review users to data brokers, marketers, or unrelated businesses.
6. When Information May Be Shared
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to provide a service you request, operate our business, or comply with law. Depending on the circumstances, this may include the following:
Insurance carriers and providers
If you later ask us to pursue insurance coverage or another product or service, we may provide information to the carrier or provider as necessary for the transaction you requested. The coverage-review information you submit to Lonestar is not automatically transmitted to a carrier merely because you submitted it to us.
Service providers
We may use third-party service providers for functions such as website hosting, form processing, email delivery, data storage, website security, or technical support. These providers process information in connection with services they provide to Lonestar and are subject to their own privacy, security, contractual, and legal obligations.
We currently use Formspree to process certain website form submissions. Submitted information may be stored within Formspree’s systems and accessed by Lonestar through an authenticated account. Email notifications of new coverage-review submissions do not contain the financial figures entered into the coverage review.
Legal, regulatory, and professional purposes
We may disclose information when required or permitted by law, including in response to lawful regulatory requests, court orders, subpoenas, legal proceedings, fraud-prevention needs, or other circumstances permitted by applicable insurance privacy law. We may also share information with attorneys, accountants, auditors, insurers, or other professional advisers when reasonably necessary and permitted by law.
7. Health and Medical Information
Our public website and coverage-review calculator are not designed to collect detailed medical or health information. The coverage review may allow you to identify broad planning categories such as final medical expenses, but it does not ask for diagnoses, medical records, prescriptions, medical history, or health-provider records.
If you later apply for a life insurance product that requires health information, that information is handled separately through the applicable carrier application and underwriting process rather than through the website or coverage-review tool.
8. Website and Technical Information
Like most websites, our website or hosting provider may automatically receive limited technical information when you visit, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages requested, and the date and time of access. This information may appear in ordinary server logs and may be used for security, troubleshooting, website administration, and performance purposes.
We do not currently use third-party advertising pixels or behavioral advertising technologies on this website. If our use of analytics, cookies, advertising technologies, or similar tools materially changes, we will update this Privacy Policy to describe those practices.
9. Communications From Lonestar
When you provide contact information and ask us to respond to an inquiry or review your planning information, we may use the telephone number or email address you provided to respond to that request.
Submitting a website inquiry or coverage review does not by itself enroll you in an automated recurring marketing-text program. If Lonestar later offers recurring promotional text messages or other communications that require separate consent, that consent will be requested separately.
You may ask us to stop nonessential marketing communications at any time.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and procedural safeguards designed to protect personal information in our possession from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. Access to personal information is limited to persons and service providers who reasonably need the information for legitimate business purposes.
Lonestar uses reasonable and good-faith efforts to protect personal information; however, Lonestar does not guarantee that any security measure, Internet transmission, or electronic storage system will be completely secure. If a security incident occurs, we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
11. How Long We Keep Information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to respond to your request, to maintain appropriate business and insurance records, to meet legal or regulatory requirements, to resolve disputes, to prevent fraud or misuse, or to protect legitimate business interests.
Retention periods may vary depending on the nature of the information and the relationship involved. When information no longer needs to be retained, we may delete, destroy, or de-identify it as appropriate.
12. Your Choices and Privacy Requests
You may contact Lonestar to:
- Ask what personal information you have voluntarily provided to us.
- Request correction of inaccurate contact information.
- Update your communication preferences.
- Ask us to delete information when deletion is reasonably available and is not inconsistent with legal, regulatory, contractual, or legitimate recordkeeping requirements.
- Ask questions about how your information has been collected, used, or handled.
If applicable law provides additional rights concerning particular information, we will honor those rights as required.
13. Children’s Privacy
Lonestar’s website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly solicit personal information through this website directly from children under 13. Some educational materials may discuss planning for children or grandchildren, but an adult should provide any information relating to those planning topics.
14. Third-Party Websites
Our website may contain links to insurance companies, funeral providers, social-media services, governmental resources, educational resources, or other third-party websites. Lonestar does not control the privacy or security practices of those third parties. Once you leave lonestarpreplanning.com, information you provide is governed by the policies of the site or organization receiving it.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Lonestar may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our website, services, technology, service providers, business practices, or applicable law.
We review this Privacy Policy when our information practices materially change, when we add or remove service providers that affect personal information, when we add or remove products and service offerings, when public-facing or internal business processes change the way we request, collect, or use personal information, when we introduce new analytics, advertising technologies, forms, or categories of information, and periodically to help ensure that the policy continues to accurately describe our practices.
When we update this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised version on this website and update the “Last Updated” date shown at the top of the policy.
If a change materially affects how we collect, use, or disclose personal information, we will provide any additional notice, choice, or consent required by applicable law before applying the new practice where required.
Lonestar reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy as our practices and legal obligations evolve.
